The Molokini Islet is a caldera as well as a protected fish and bird sanctuary. Here, you can snorkel, dive, and bird watch; but only from a boat. There are dozens of boats which visit these waters daily. Here the fish are friendly and almost tame. This is a great spot, but can be crowded and expensive for families. If you take a trip to Molokini we recommend you take a long sleeved neoprene or surf shirt - the water is deep here and therefore a few degrees colder. We recommend that you snorkel right from the beach in front of Dolphins Point Maui - at the end of the beach where the lava outcroppings meet the ocean! You'll see a great variety of fish and perhaps - early in the morning - several of the sea turtles which call Kamaole I home. Best of all - there's no charge!
